About
The Theology of Work (TOW) Project exists to help people explore what the Bible and the Christian faith can contribute to ordinary work.
What does the Bible say about work? When faced with this question, many Christians are left with silence and blank stares. They’ve likely never heard a sermon or read a book on what the Bible teaches about work. But the Christian scriptures have much to say about the topic.
The Theology of Work Project is an independent, international organization dedicated to researching, writing, and distributing materials with a biblical perspective on non-church workplaces. The Project’s primary mission is to produce resources covering every book of the Bible. We are also developing resources for the most significant topics in today’s workplace, such as calling, ethics, truth & deception, provision & wealth, motivation, finance, and economics and society. Wherever possible, we collaborate with other faith-and-work organizations, churches, universities and seminaries to help equip workplace Christians for meaningful and fruitful work of every kind.
WHO ARE “WORKPLACE CHRISTIANS?”
This term is an intentionally broad label meant to encompass Christian educators, businesspersons, students, politicians, and artists, as well as pastors and scholars. The Theology of Work Project is built on a belief that every Jesus-follower is called to live out their faith within the context of their vocation. As a result, you’ll find broadly-accessible materials on this site with a little something for everyone.
WHAT KIND OF RESOURCES DOES THE TOW PROJECT PRODUCE?
The content you’ll find on our site examines the topic of work from a Christian perspective. We don’t intend to answer every question on the subject, but rather we focus on key questions that will help readers develop a more robust Christian worldview. Readers can expect to find book reviews, exclusive interviews with leading thinkers, and both short and long-form articles examining the topic of work in various books of the Bible. Our desire is for these materials to be timeless, understandable, and unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else.
WHO WRITES THE CONTENT POSTED BY THE TOW PROJECT?
Because we take seriously our mission, we’ve developed an intentional process for producing content. We begin by assembling teams of scholars and practitioners to research the topic of work in a particular book of the Bible. This team familiarizes themselves with relevant published works and multiple interpretations of their assigned text before producing a long-form article. This article is reviewed by the TOW Project team to ensure it meets our high quality standards and then becomes a springboard for shorter articles, interviews, and book reviews. This may sound like a laborious process for a site like ours, but we hope it communicates how important we believe our task is and how highly we respect readers like you.
