The American Thanksgiving story is about the Pilgrims. After a bountiful harvest, they feasted and gave thanks with the local Indians who had helped them survive in the new world.
Hundreds of years later, we still pause to thank God on this special day. This year, we are especially grateful for the magnificent American spirit that rose when the towers fell. We’re grateful for the resolve of the American people and our leaders during this difficult time.
Like you, I thank God for the heroes who died on September 11 so that others might live.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge asking you again to make this Thanksgiving a celebration of our great bounty: for God, our country, our families, and all who serve our communities through the high calling of our daily work.
Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
