Transcript

Dr. Smiley Blanton left college with no intention of being a psychiatrist. He spent three years in drama school, then taught at Cornell University. But two years into teaching, he knew he really wanted to be a doctor. The decision to change careers was not easy. Blanton would be well into his 30s before he began to practice—and not established until his 40s. His friends counseled against it, but he went ahead.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Dr. Blanton never regretted the risk of taking a new path. What’s more, in his practice, he met many people fearful of change. From experience, he could tell them that the desire to change also unleashes the power and courage to act … in the high calling of our daily work.

May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

(Ps. 20:4-5)
