Don’t Wait Too Long

Transcript

At the end of World War II, General Omar Bradley held the highest rank in the United States Army. But when he was 18, he had developed little personal direction. Unable to afford college, he heard about West Point and said simply, "I am going to try."

Years later, retiring from the Army, he accepted a job in a completely different field. He could have prolonged the decision, but he said, "I’m going to try."

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. General Bradley later wrote: "In war or peace, the naked fact remains: we are given one life. We can wait for circumstances to make up our minds, or we can decide to act, and in acting, live." To wait is one thing, but don't postpone your life. Don't risk missing . . . the high calling of our daily work.

"Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him."

(Luke 12:35-36)
