Friends in Need

Transcript

When Ron called his buddy Jeff, it was almost midnight. "I've got a flat tire and no jack! It's pouring rain!" Ron said.

What Jeff thought was, "Why are you out so late? I've told you to get a jack. Can't you call the auto club?"

What Jeff said was, "I'll be there in ten minutes."

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Jesus said there's no greater love than to lay down your life for your friend. By definition, that kind of love will be inconvenient. Most likely it will come with unanswered questions and bad weather. When a friend genuinely needs help and your first thought is to stay comfortable, go with your second thought . . . in the high calling of our daily work.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:12-13)
