Hitting the Delete Key

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

Transcript

Steve watched a young friend typing on the computer. When he made a typo, he just hit the delete key, corrected the error, and went on.

Steve spoke up: "With typewriters, it wasn't so simple. We had to erase our mistakes. Or try to. It usually left a smudge or at least an impression." The young man's blank stare made it clear: He'd never used a typewriter.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. When we go to God and confess our "typos," God hits the delete key. Because of Jesus, the page is clean: no imprint of the former sin, no eraser marks, no smudges. Our mistakes aren't gone a little—God deletes them for good . . . in the high calling of our daily work.

Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. (Acts 13:38)
