Jason

Transcript

For several summers, Jason was a top counselor at Laity Lodge Youth Camp. To an adoring tribe of active young boys, he was chief teacher, nose-wiper, song-leader, listener, and fun machine. He loved kids, the boys admired him, and they absorbed his life lessons like little sponges.

But from his first summer on, every spring, Jason's father asked him the same question, "When are you going to get a real job?" Jason's father didn't understand the importance of Jason's work. But Jason was learning and practicing servant leadership.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. The real significance of our work may not appear in the job description. So practice servant leadership whatever your job—because servant leadership is the high calling of our daily work.

He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."

(Mark 9:36-37)
