Ryan’s Wells

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

Transcript

Peggy Wehmeyer, of the World Vision Report, recently interviewed Ryan Hreljac. When he was six, Ryan cried after hearing that African children had no wells for fresh drinking water. By age nine, he had raised $2,000 to help dig a well for an African school. When he and his parents visited the new well, grateful villagers lined the entire last mile.

Now Ryan is a 12-year-old who goes to school and plays soccer. He also has a foundation called Ryan's Wells. It has raised more than $800,000.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Can one person make a difference? Consider a six-year-old who acted on his compassion. Heroes come in every size, shape, and age—in the high calling of our daily work.

"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward."

(Matt. 10:40-42)
