Transcript

Eunice and Shaun Meyers were driving to the grocery store when a car in front of them swerved—and crashed down an embankment. While Eunice called 911, Shaun jumped out and raced to help. The car was lodged on the railroad tracks . . . and a train was approaching. He helped pull an injured, elderly man from the car—just seconds before a roaring train smashed into it.

Shaun Meyers' heroism that day saved a life, but heroics weren't on his mind. He saw someone in danger and instinctively raced to help.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Our daily efforts to help others may be less heroic, but those smaller attempts to ease someone else's difficulty are no less important—in the high calling of our daily work.

Rescue me and deliver me in your righteousness; turn your ear to me and save me. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

(Ps. 71:2-3)
