God’s Perspective on Your Work

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

Transcript

Lisa did not enjoy her work. She should—it involved many of the things she liked to do. But just … no joy. Meanwhile, jobs were scarce, and she knew she should be grateful for twice-monthly paychecks.

Meanwhile, one more thing: Lisa began to find time every morning to pray. Nothing big, just space to read the Bible—to remind herself of "more than here, more than now"—and a few moments for God’s perspective to fill her view.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Lisa couldn’t say exactly why her workdays improved, but I believe I know: Psalm 16:11 says, "in your presence is fullness of joy" … in the high calling of our daily work.

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (
Ps. 16:11)
