Seven Wonders

Some students were asked to list the world’s Seven Wonders.

Amid general disagreement—and several votes—they settled on this list: The Egyptian Pyramids, the Taj Mahal, the Grand Canyon, the Panama Canal, the Empire State Building, St. Peter’s in Rome, and China’s Great Wall.

One student named Julie held back, mystified by the difference in her own answers.

The teacher asked Julie for her Seven Wonders.

Julie read aloud, “To touch, to taste, to see, to hear, to feel, to laugh, and to love.”

And the class grew silent.
