Small Change

Transcript

In 2003, Hong Kong had an outbreak of SARS—a severe and sometimes deadly form of viral pneumonia. No doubt you read about it. So what saved Hong Kong’s health? One dramatic step made the most difference—hand washing. Soap and water under a faucet. And what did all that hand-washing accomplish?

Not only was the SARS outbreak contained—other cases of respiratory illnesses, including the flu, dropped sharply.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge, and my point isn’t good hygiene—though I encourage that too. My point is the multiple benefits of one new discipline. Consider your habits and routines: what small change would make a large difference for you—in the high calling of our daily work?

And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 18:3)
