Yes, Virginia

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

Transcript

Virginia O'Hanlon's school friends told her Santa Claus wasn't real. So her father suggested she write a letter to the newspaper. And she did.

Columnist Francis Church answered the letter: "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."

That Christmas in 1897, his newspaper published what has become the most reprinted editorial ever. Church explained a great truth in words that an eight-year-old could understand: "The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see."

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. This Christmas, if you are burdened with doubt or plagued by cynicism, take heart. Share the joy of the immortal, unseen world through faith in Jesus Christ in the high calling of our daily work.
