New AI Chatbot Uses Theology of Work Resources to Support Faith in the Workplace
News and Events / Produced by TOW Project and Partners
Theology of Work (TOW), in partnership with VOCA, has contributed content to a new AI-powered chatbot designed to help Christians integrate their faith into their daily work.
The tool—VOCA AiSD (AI Spiritual Director)—draws on curated theological resources, including TOW materials, to provide users with Scripture-based guidance tailored to real workplace situations. Rather than offering generic advice, the chatbot is designed to respond to specific challenges such as ethical decisions, workplace conflict, leadership questions, and vocational discernment.
Key capabilities of the AI Spiritual Director:
- Contextual biblical guidance for real workplace situations
By accessing the TOW Bible Commentary, AiSD is designed to move beyond generic or surface-level advice for workplace problems. Through a curated body of theological content, users get guidance that is both biblically grounded and specific to the user’s situation. Whether facing a difficult decision, a strained working relationship, or a question of integrity, users receive responses that aim to apply Scripture directly to the realities of modern work. - Daily devotionals that connect faith directly to work
In addition to responding to questions, the tool offers daily, work-focused devotionals. These are designed not as abstract reflections, but as prompts that help users begin their workday with a theological framework for their tasks, responsibilities, and relationships. The goal is to reduce the gap between spiritual practice and professional life by making reflection on Scripture a regular part of the workweek. - Flexible modes of guidance based on user need
Recognizing that different situations require different types of support, AiSD allows users to engage in multiple modes—such as encourager, counselor, or coach. This enables the tool to adapt its tone and approach depending on whether the user is seeking emotional encouragement, moral clarity, or practical decision-making support. - Ongoing reflection through saved insights and conversations
The platform includes the ability to save prayers, insights, and prior interactions. Over time, this creates a record that users can revisit, allowing for reflection on recurring themes, spiritual growth, and how particular challenges were addressed. This feature positions the tool not just as a one-time resource, but as something that can support longer-term formation. - Structured prompts to help users engage more easily
For many users, one barrier to integrating faith and work is simply knowing where to begin. AiSD includes guided prompts and “conversation starters” that help users articulate workplace challenges in a theological context. These prompts are intended to lower the barrier to engagement and make it easier to begin reflecting on work through the lens of Scripture.
By making trusted theological resources more accessible and interactive, the AI Spirital Director aims to support more consistent integration of faith and work.
