Up and Down

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

No one would call legendary Dallas Cowboys Coach Tom Landry a vain man. Yet he was one of the most successful coaches in any sport. His teams won two Super Bowls and played in three more. And Coach Landry met success with humility.

His faith had much to do with it. So did his experience. In Landry’s first three years as head coach, the Cowboys won a total of only eight games. Fans would wait another seven years for his first winning season.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Are you reaching the height of success in your profession? Good. Enjoy it. But remember that all peaks are flanked by valleys. It’s true of topography, and football…and the high calling of our daily work.
