Come Together
Blog / Produced by The High Calling
Is it okay to start off this post by telling you how excited I am? Let me explain...
I've been celebrating the third birthday of my own blog this week, and my blogging has created some pretty cool opportunities for me. Last year I joined a team from a microfinance organization on a mission trip to Kenya and Uganda to do some teaching. I've also had the pleasure of interviewing some really cool people like Todd Agnew. And now I have the opportunity to work with an amazing team of writers here at HighCallingBlogs.com.
I share this to help make the point that it is really cool to pour yourself into something and watch it grow and evolve into something more than you had previously imagined. This is what has been (and is) happening with HighCallingBlogs.com.
I remember when I first joined the HighCallingBlogs.com network. It seemed to be very new and raw. But for me it quickly became one of the most important places on the web to connect with other Christian bloggers. To this very day some of my all time favorite Christian bloggers are people that I've found in this network. It's always been easy for me to connect with with a vision statement like this...
Our vision for HighCallingBlogs.com is to create opportunities through new media tools for people to encounter God for the transformation of daily life, work, and our world. But, HighCallingBlogs.com is really just a piece of a bigger picture that includes TheHighCalling.org. In fact, you'll notice that the vision statement that I just shared for the blog network is very similar to the mission of TheHighCalling.org...
TheHighCalling.org seeks to create opportunities for Christian leaders to encounter God through new media tools for the transformation of daily life, work, and our world. Christian leaders are in all aspects and activities of daily life—including home, community, leisure, as well as occupation.Since its inception the HighCallingBlogs.com network has grown into something pretty substantial. It has grown into more than probably most of us have ever imagined, yet there is much more to come. Therefore a decision had to be made about what the future of the network would look like. One of the changes that you'll see happening is the merge between TheHighCalling.org and HighCallingBlogs.com. Consider it a coming together of two really great parts of the same picture. You will continue to see and hear more about this transformation in the coming months, and I think that you'll really like what you see! And this is where I come in. As the new Social Media Editor for the network, I get to play with things like Facebook and Twitter (I know, fun, right?). As part of this transformation we'll be merging the two Twitter accounts that we currently maintain (@thehighcalling and @highcallingblog) into one (@thehighcalling). What you'll see on the one Twitter account is the same great content tweets from both sites in one spot. Within the next week, you will begin to see us using the one Twitter account as we move to retire the other one. You may also want to check out the Twitter list of bloggers who are a part of the network: @thehighcalling/high-calling-bloggers We've also been working on our Facebook presence, and there you will already see the content from both sites feeding onto the same page. If you haven't seen the Fan Page yet, then I encourage you to check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/TheHighCalling I encourage you to follow us in both of these places. While you're there please feel free to tweet us, and leave a comment on our wall on Facebook. Let us know what you think, and if there is something that you'd like to see. Oh, and stay tuned for more exciting stuff to come! As a little treat, I'll leave you with this song from Third Day appropriately titled Come Together to help you get into the groove with this awesome transformation that we will be going through.
