Community Post: Does Work Interrupt the More Important Things in Life?

If you look at this life as a spiritual plane, you might just view the workplace as a terrible inconvenience. After all, we have God’s work to do and man’s work keeps us from the really important things like redemption of creation, praising to the Father, and winning souls. Or, is work part of the plan?

Larry Peabody at Called Into Work raised this question in his post, Work Takes My Mind Off God.

“The workplace surrounds me with all kinds of distractions such as interruptions, crises, and vulgar language,” he writes. “This means I can’t keep my mind on the things of God. The job environment keeps drawing me away from thinking about Jesus.”

“Can these two realms—seemingly at odds with each other—be reconciled?,” he asks. “What is the answer?” He likens the workplace to the heartbeat. “Your heart goes on beating while you are driving your car. In a similar way, the relationship between a believers' sprit and God continues.” Read the full post here.
