I have one son whose dresser was always perfectly sensible, with socks neatly laid out and shirts folded by color and use. Pants were arranged so each pair could be pulled out without disrupting the others.

My other son was quite the opposite. His clothes were like Sunday stew, with everything mixed in together. He simply reached into a drawer and fished out the first thing he found. Somehow, it worked for him.

I often approach my spiritual life like it’s a tidy dresser. There’s a drawer for faith and another drawer for family. There’s a drawer for worship and another one for work. But God operates more like the dresser of my wild and free son – it’s all mixed together.

Andre Yee who blogs at Every Square Inch reminds us that there is no such thing as the God of compartments. He’s in every aspect of our lives. Yee's blog gets its title from an Abraham Kuyper quote:

"There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: Mine!"

It’s a powerful idea and one that should revolutionize the way we live. Similarly, Yee encourages us to make the most of our time, recognizing that God is continually at work in all facets of our existence.
