Community Post: Stop Trying So Hard
Blog / Produced by The High Calling
Popular High Calling Network blogger Jeff Goins, has some advice for the rest of us. Stop trying to be famous.
Goins is an expert at self-promotion with his regular tweets, writings and product sales. While he's a master of social media and building audience, his advice is to “not try so hard.”
An unnamed millionaire friend of Goins wrote this. “It wasn’t until I stopped caring about being famous that I really started to succeed.
Goins suggestion is to pursue skill and excellence, and not fame.
"The world is full of famous people who haven't done anything significant. We don't need another Kardashian. We need more than charisma; we need your contribution, your art, your gift to the world.
I was also surprised to read this sentence, which almost seemed to be confessional in nature. “Because it’s so easy to game the system, to trick your way into influence without actually doing anything remarkable, we have to be careful.”
His mission mentality and humble roots speak loudly.
“We have to avoid the temptation of fame and instead do the quiet work that leads to true success."
