Don’t Give Up

Sometimes when I read Christian writings, there’s a disconnect between the ideal presented and my own reality. The formula doesn’t always add up. I pray. I watch. I wait. And nothing happens.
Director and Scholar-in-Residence for Laity Lodge, Mark D. Roberts encourages me – and the rest of the impatient saints out there – to not give up. “Psalm 88 offers us an invitation to hang in there with God,” he writes, “Even when we don’t get what he’s doing, even when we are exhausted and discouraged.”
Roberts repeats verse 13 of the Psalm. "I will keep on pleading, day by day." Those few words might be just what we need to stay on the long, and narrow road.
