Transcript

A little boy played with his father's gold watch and accidentally broke it. Saying nothing, the boy replaced the watch in his father's drawer. When the father asked how his watch broke, the boy escaped notice.

The boy grew up. One dark night, he hit and killed a child with his car. Without thinking, he fled the scene. The police found him, of course. Later, from prison, he admitted that his decision to flee resulted from years of running from responsibility.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. A right decision is not produced in one moment. It is mixed, poured, and set—through the thousand small decisions we make every day . . . in the high calling of our daily work.

Make level paths for your feet
and take only ways that are firm.
Do not swerve to the right or the left;
keep your foot from evil.

(Prov. 4:26-27)
