Elevate Studio Serves God Through Architecture
Blog / Produced by The High Calling
Recently one of our friends in the High Calling Community pointed us to this great business article about an architectural firm that is serving God in Michigan. According to Nathan Peck, the author of the piece, "Jim VanderMolen and Steve Fridsma said their vocations and passions led them to form a new firm, Elevate Studio, which caters to worship communities around the country."
VanderMolen and Fridsma are serving God by serving churches with good, green architecture. Of course, not all architects are going to serve God by serving churches specifically. Some architects will serve baseball fans in Pittsburgh like David Greussel. Other architects like Rich Archer will serve anyplace where "a big idea needs a building."
Thank goodness for the calling of Elevate Studio. Nothing inhibits community like bad architecture. Someone has to serve the churches, or we end up with ugly churches and ugly communities.
The two founders of Elevate Studio also understand the intrinsic value of good work and good architecture. “We talked about the desire to have meaning in architecture," Fridsma. It is conveyed through the architecture of the space itself, not just symbols.”
