Eye on the Ball
Audio / Produced by The High CallingTranscript
Diane Belmont moved to New York as a teenager with one desire: to act. That is, until a drama teacher panned her future in performing. So home she went. Later, she tried again and got on stage—only to be fired by three different Broadway producers.
Next stop: Hollywood, where her second-tier films earned her the nickname “Queen of the B-Movies.” Years later, she tried television. That’s when the world came to love Diane by her real name: Lucille Ball.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Discouragement, failure, ridicule...how often we hear them factor into later success! Of course, difficulty doesn’t guarantee later success. But neither does it point to lasting failure...in the high calling of our daily work.
