God Cares About Soap and Cars TooAudio / Produced by The High Calling
Recently, I had lunch with a friend, and we found ourselves talking business. He wanted to honor God openly at his advertising agency. He said, "It's humbling to see your spiritual work because all I do is sell soap and cars. Your goals are so much loftier."
I shook my head. Listen! Christians aren't passively awaiting Jesus' return. We don't keep day jobs just to mark the time. Our work is more than a way to just make money. It's a way to honor God.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Sell cars and soap with excellence, integrity, and enthusiasm! Your job dignifies yourself and others if you do it to glorify God . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? (Eccl. 2:24-25)
