God In the Center

A community prayer group was gathering for Bible study when one of its members began her litany of fear in the form of complaints and troubles. The group listened with empathy; however, the woeful tales seemed to have no end. A few minutes passed before one of the senior members interrupted. "Perhaps you need to change your perspective, dear. Maybe it is time to take your challenges and look at them as learning experiences and potential gifts for empowerment." This advice seemed to encourage others at the meeting to chime in with words of encouragement in the form of one-line sermons:

"Put God in the center and everything will come together."
"Nothing is too hard for God."
"Just walk out on faith . . . you will have no trouble finding your footing on the high ground."
"Do your best and leave the rest to God."
"With God, all things—not some, all things—are possible!"
"God gave you talents and treasures; use them or lose them."

How amazing is God's presence in others who provide us with new perspectives! The lessons are everywhere in our daily walk—as are the earthly "angels" who provide hope and new ways of seeing.

"Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" (Matt. 8:26) Be not afraid. We have but to put God in the center . . . He is always present and on time.

Lord, thank you for each opportunity to learn, grow, and acquire new perspectives. You have given us the ability to act with courage; enable us to walk out on faith. Thank you, God!

Questions for Discussion:

• How will you be an encourager today?
• What new perspectives can you help bring to fruition?
• What will you see with "new eyes" today?
• How will you plant the seeds of hope and faith in your daily walk?
