On September 11, Americans were violently rocked by thousands of untimely deaths. We were stunned, but quickly united. People unable to assist at Ground Zero did everything else possible. They gave blood, donated money, and lifted their voices in prayer. Our country galvanized so quickly it must have surprised the terrorists. Instead of throwing us into panic and desperation, the attacks bound us together.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. As I consider the challenges of this century, I'm grateful to live in the USA. Here, opportunities and possibilities abound. Love and support abound. Life is cherished. I confidently pray that our children and grandchildren will enjoy the same freedoms. May they be strong in spirit, strong in faith, and continue to rejoice in the high calling of our daily work.

Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
