At first, some people didn't understand the game. Swim across the river, race up the canyon half a mile, jump off the cliff into the river—carrying one team member the entire way. Don't let that team member touch the water or the ground until the final leap.

The people on John's team understood immediately. You see, John is a paraplegic. When his team reached the top of the cliff, one of them jumped off with John in his arms, and John whooped as they fell.

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. In that rugged canyon, John's team provided legs, but John provided joy. We, too, can find joy when we use teamwork to help others reach goals they never thought possible . . . in the high calling of our daily work.

Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
