Imagined Fear, Real Problems

Audio / Produced by The High Calling

Transcript

The team had met twice now, and John believed he’d been left out of the loop both times. In the break room, when he approached certain people, conversation appeared to stop. Rejection haunted John, and at last he told his boss.

She promised to look into it. She soon told him, “John, I’ve discreetly inquired into your concerns, and these fears have no basis. You’re a valued team member and a well-liked co-worker. But this preoccupation with imagined problems has derailed your work and my time.”

This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge, and I’ve seen imaginary fears lead to real problems. So stay alert to the potential traps of gossip, half-truths—and even overworked thoughts...in the high calling of our daily work.
