Prayer / Produced by partner of TOW
King

Sing praises to God, sing praises;
sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the king of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm.

Psalm 47:6-7

Prayer

O God, I praise you!

I praise you because you are my King.
I have chosen to live under your reign,
to acknowledge your sovereignty,
to obey your instruction.
I am one of your people,
saved by your grace,
called by your voice,
bowed before your majesty.
I belong to you.
I honor you.
I worship you.
You are my King.
Hallelujah!

Yet you are not just my King.
You are the King of the nations.
You are King over all the earth.
You are rightful King over my workplace, my neighborhood, and my city.
You reign over all things, all companies, all schools, all cities, all nations.
I praise you because your kingdom knows no end.

May my work this day be an offering of praise to you, O King.
May everything I think, do, and say honor you.
May the excellence of my work and the integrity of my life glorify you.
All praise be to you, my King, King of all the earth! Amen.

Ponder Throughout the Day

God is the rightful King over all, including your work and workplace.

For Further Reflection

Read all of Psalm 47, paying attention to what the Spirit of God is stirring up in your heart, especially in relationship to your work. Talk with God about what you are thinking and feeling.

You might also reflect on the lyrics of the hymn, “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty” (Joachim Neander, author, 1680; Catherine Winkworth, translator, 1863).

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,
join me in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;
sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!
Have you not seen all that is needful has been
sent by his gracious ordaining?

Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
if with his love he befriends you.

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.
Let the Amen sound from his people again;
gladly forever adore him.
