I Quit…MaybeAudio / Produced by The High Calling
Jack was ready to quit—and justified in wanting out. Ineffective boss. Deadweight coworkers. No recognition. A struggling business. He dashed off a blistering resignation by email...then hit the “delete” key.
Now, more coolly, he picked up the phone to arrange an evening with an old mentor. Later, he’d talk things over with his best friend, who happened to be his wife. The next day, a renewed employee went to work.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. The new Jack was just as aware of his job’s shortcomings; only now, he intended to be the difference he had long wanted to see. The best change to a bad job starts inside us—in the high calling of our daily work.
